A Theological Introduction to the Book of Psalms
Published in Paperback by Abingdon Press (August, 1993)
Authors: J. Clinton, Jr. McCann and Clinton McCann
Average review score:

The psalms from Old Testament to New Testament
McCann provides an interesting treatment of the Psalms by discussing categories (prayer, praise) through the development of selected psalms. McCann provides background data and occasional linguistic (Hebrew words) comments when examining a psalm but the emphasis is on the message of the psalm and its setting in Israel and the Psalter. The author views the Psalms from a Christian perspective but, since he is from the liberal tradition, (his note) the New Testament authors (including Jesus) only refer to or develop the psalms; since there is no prophecy and fulfillment in the Psalter. McCann integrates other literature into his discussion as examples and is quite conversant with recent developments among scholars in Psalms studies. The book does not develop theological matters as much as one might like; especially considering the title, but it is quite thorough and informative. McCann's last chapter, "The Psalms and Jesus Christ," should be read both at the beginning and the end of the book to give the reader his full perspective.

The Unique Voice of Hillary Rodham Clinton: A Portrait in Her Own Words
Published in Hardcover by Avon (February, 1997)
Authors: Hillary Rodham Clinton and Claire G. Osborne
Average review score:

some interesting new things about the First Lady
Basically a collection of her answers and speeches, that she has presented all over the US. Her views on American lifestyles and how important a secure family is to a child. Hillary Clinton's years at Wellesley. It is a no nonsense kind of book. Written in a very down to earth style.

Sleeping With the President: My Intimate Years With Bill Clinton
Published in Paperback by Anonymous Pr Inc (February, 1997)
Author: Gennifer Flowers
Average review score:

Canyon Adams Was Right
I recently read a book by Mr. Canyon Adams entitled "Addiction in the White House: Disgrace of the U.S. Presidency." The book was excellent! And since Mr. Adams dedicated the book to Gennifer Flowers (and Paula Jones and Kathleen Willey)I found myself becoming interested in Gennifer's story. So I bought this book. I like this book too. Gennifer, I believe your story. Mr. Adams pointed out your credibility, and the President's sickness, and now I see things from your perspective. When I approached your book, I found it very believeable and credible. Good luck, Ms. Flowers. As your book points out, you paid a big price for your freedom from the presidential scandal.

Written in a truthful manner
Gennifer Flowers had a lot to say. Unfortunately, this book is mistitled. It contains excellent historical data and shows the light side, the dark side and an ongoing dishonest side of a President of the United States of America. Gennifer is believable. She has been vindicated in more ways than one.

Very good reading
This book provides some interesting but sad details about the man who hold the "honorable" office of President of the United States. He is less than honorable. Gennifer flowers reveals a very dark side of this person, who only has his interest at heart. Hats off to her. It must of took a lot,for her,to get though the making of this book. Wish her only the best.

The First Partner - Hillary Rodham Clinton (Nova Audio Books)

Secret Police
It wouldn't surprise me at all if many of the negative reviews for this book were planted by the Clintons' secret police. Genuine or planted, note that none of those reviews defend the Clintons on the facts. They claim the author is a hater who ignored all of the Hillary's "accomplishments," without of course naming any of them. In fact her sole accomplishment, among numerous public policy failures and absurd leftist notions about children and education, was that she married a man who happened to become president.

It's true that the author repeats some of the Clinton gossip, but she makes no attempt to disguise it as fact. She even has several kind things to say about this disgusting person. But like almost all who write about HRC, she can't escape the inevitable conclusion that this woman is a liar and a demagogue, ready to trash innocent lives and careers to secure her grab for power and adulation. What's amazing to me is how many celebrity worshipers there are out there who don't want to know the facts, or who know them and simply don't care.

The First Lady Hired A Detective + Security Issues
I believe the book is well worth buying and reading carefully if you are interested in the Clintons. This "review" covers some of the issues raised in the book (but obviously not all!).

A) The author claims that Hillary Clinton hired detective(s) to gather information on her husband Bill Clinton's activities.

This claim is by no means widely accepted. However, there have been press reports in previous years that point to Deputy White House Counsel Vince Foster as the routine "point of contact" between the First Lady and these (alleged) detectives.

B) The book also brings up Foster in another context that appears to support the claim that Foster could well have been used as Hillary Clinton's liason with the (alleged) detectives.

Foster is identified in the book as:

"A presidential counselor, one who apparently had a romantic attachment to the First Lady, had worked in the White House for six months without an FBI background check or a permanent pass."

C) Foster's SF-86, the security clearance "package" used as the basis for his application for a security clearance was signed by him on January 27, 1993, and involved a Level II Background Identification ("BI") check.

The SF-86 is entitled "Questionnaire for Sensitive Positions (For National Security)" and is quite extensive, especially when assembled with all the related field reports and other inquiries that are made as a matter of course.

FBI Agent Gary Aldrich interviewed Foster in connection with Foster's security clearance on February 12, 1993. The Text of the related FBI FD-302 Interview Report revealed nothing that would prevent Foster from successfully completing the Level II BI security check.

The other several hundred pages of Foster's SF-86 "package" -- obtained via FOIA -- also do not indicate any reason(s) that Foster would not have been timely granted the security clearance sought.

If Milton is correct when she states that Foster had not obtained a security clearance at the time of his death, it is nonetheless clear that security clearance procedures COMMENCED in January 1993 and continued for several weeks.

It normally does not take anywhere near six months complete a Level II BI -- whether the clearance is granted or denied.

If Foster's security clearance was not complete at the time of his death on July 20, 1993, what was the reason for the delay?

D) Milton also states (about the Foster death):

"The established facts were shocking enough."

Milton's readers who would like to know more about Foster's White House activities, especially in the several days prior to his death, the death iteslf, and the various related government investigations may email me [HSprunt@aol.com] to receive via return email (at no charge, of course!) a substantive analysis (includes references to additional sources of information).

Two publishers printed earlier versions of this analysis in hard copy (fee paid), but I retained the copyright and offer this latest release of the analysis gratis to those who request it (as long as I am not physically overwhelmed with requests -- to date they have been manageable in number).

The analysis in question is about 30,000 words and is sourced from government investigative documents made public through FOIA actions/suits and other means (NO "secret sources," reliable or otherwise!). It is NOT a poltically partisan analysis.

That said, the analysis is quite critical of the Starr Office of Independent Counsel and describesdiscusses data (government documents) that may be of evidential value to those who believe that, subsequently, the Starr OIC might not have functioned properly in connection with the Lewinsky imbroglio (and other Starr OIC investigations) regarding the treatment of witnesses

Disclosure: I do not know the Author, Joyce Milton, and do not have any connection to her, direct or indirect, of which I am aware (except: my mother-in-law is ALSO the author of multiple books and ALSO lives in Brooklyn!).

Now I understand why she stays in an abusive marriage
As a strong woman who has always had trouble understanding why a well-educated woman who is supposed to be at least as strong as I am would stay in such an abusive relationship, this book provided more than enough reasons.

This book is a must-read for those who do not understand why women with much less education and promise for their futures would make a similar decision, despite continuing abuse.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is much more socialist than I ever would have guessed. She has a head stuck firmly in the 60's, coupled with the attention span of a 5-year-old whose Ritalin ran out a week ago. Her ignorance of the economic realities of life are appalling, and her inability to understand how sweeping revisions of the social structure will adversely affect those least able to adjust to those changes is equally disturbing -- and flabergasting!

While differing views of various people interviewed for this book may be a turn-off by some readers, one need only look at the spectrum of emotions elicited by Hillary's husband to understand how people can see one human being through so many different prisms and come to so many different opinions of what they have seen.

I would recommend this book to anybody who is a news junky, Clinton-watcher -- on either side of the issue of them as human beings, or just interested in a good read with more than a bit of spice.

Between Hope and History: Meeting America's Challenges for the 21st Century
Published in Hardcover by Random House (Audio) (October, 1996)
Author: Bill Clinton
Average review score:

Good summary of Clinton goals and speeches
Clinton will not go down in history as a great politcal writer, but this book is a reasonably good summary of his political philosophy, ideas, and goals. My favorite quote: "Even in a free society, real choices exist only if people have the capacity to take advantage of them." The right-wing Clinton-haters can write all the bad reviews of this book they want, but if they actually read it, they might not find it to be so horrible.

A synthesis and distellation of bill clinton's thought
this book sums up bill lcintons thought and views on many issues that are important. He has some interesting observations about how we have the power to impove ourselves with our power.

it is written in his smooth style and is an easy read. I don't think he used any speech writers with this book. I really felt his passion of his convictions here. I hope he can keep busy now he is out of office.

he uses some form of the word "is" 104 times in the book, soIguess he now kwos what the word means.

inspiring
In former-President Clinton's "Between Hope and History" he discusses topics ranging from crime to globalization to education reform to the pride of being an American and living in the best democratic model of governance in the world. The book is very inspirational. My favorite quote is on page 175; "I believe that America today stands between hope and history---at the edge of a moment when these two powerful forces are as one, when we can embrace the dawn of the new century, drawing strength and guidance from our past, filled with confidence that in this new age of possibility, our best is yet to come."

Catastrophe: Clinton's Role in America's Worst Disaster
Published in Paperback by Newsmax.com (22 August, 2002)
Authors: Christopher Ruddy and Carl Limbacher Jr.
Average review score:

Shameful
The problem with the basic premise of this book is George Bush was president for 8 months befopre 9-11. If it so crystal clear to blame Clinton, why weren't matters addressed with the new administration? As 'don't bother me with the facts' becomes more and more the right's mantra, these authors should be ashamed of themselves for their expoliting the tragedy to further their agenda.

No one man, no one party, is to be blamed for our nation's most tragic day. Hopefully, the grown-ups will retake the debate soon on both politcal sides and writers like this will be returned to the fringe where they belong.

9/11 ATTACKS MADE POSSIBLE BY CLINTON!
Catastrophe should be required reading for all U.S. citizens. This book shows exactly how Clinton's administration led to the lack of security that allowed the terrorists into our country, and for each one to obtain a driver's license, as well as a piloting license. Articles from Newsweek, the Wall Street Journal, and especially NewsMax link in detail the negligence displayed by Clinton throughout his two terms in office. Clinton is responsible for everything from weakening our national security to allowing bin Laden to escape. There is no denying the information in this book, which every American should own.

This is a MUST READ BOOK!
This is the kind of stuff the American public will never be told by the liberal media!

The fact that Clinton himself admitted that he could have extradited bin Laden from Sudan - but didn't because he felt he wasn't a threat is disgusting! This book shows how Clinton was TOO BUSY with other matters, and yet he claims it wasn't his fault! I would highly recommend this book. Everyone, including Clinton, should read Catastrophe!

From the Eye of the Storm: A Pastor to the President Speaks Out
Published in Hardcover by Westminster John Knox Press (January, 1999)
Author: J. Philip Wogaman
Average review score:

With friends like these . . .
I'm a democrat, and no fan of the either the Republicans or the president, but I've got to say, this rambling, incoherent defense of Clinton actually ends up making the case for impeaching Clinton. And frankly, I was shocked that a Pastor would interject himself into a political debate and label his political opponents' actions as immoral.

In two words: shockingly dull.

Wogaman couldn't think his way out of a paper bag.
If you appreciate "cheap grace" and relentless feel-goodism, this is the book for you, but for real commentary on the Clinton scandal that gives a less partisan angle, try Judgment Day at the White House.

The Not so Black and White Nature of Forgiveness & Religion
The author is to be commended on taking up the topic of moral judgement and its associated companion of forgiveness in our rather primitive religious society where diversity is not the foundation upon which it is built. Not a criticizm, but a recognition that at the levels of CEO, or for a President, the weight of issues that crowd the mind (as well as the heart) are not easily dissembled into the primary parts that adhere to the simplicity of typical right and wrong assessments, for the mere fact that the reponsibilities of so many depend upon a fluid, or relative nature of morality in a context few people can imagine, and fewer still can manage. The offices do not lend themselves to the easy right and wrong answers that govern most people in their deliberations where only a few concerns need be addressed. That is not to suggest that being absolved of, or restrainted by a deep, abiding sense of moral justice is not required. Indeed, it alone is the guiding star of most persons in that position. But those fundamentals are woefully inadequate to the nature of the variables due to the stature of visibility and impact that is the natural result of the job, and the status. Modeling in such cases is not so easily obtained or reduced to its lowest common denominator of elements. Far too many Presidents (and CEO's) faced with difficult choices where someone will always be harmed by either decision, must grope with the multiple levels of moral judgement as described in the 6 steps of Kohlberg in 1981 who expressed the high level analysis that accompanies, or should accompany such positions that do not lend themselves to the toggle switch of morality that most religions teach as the process of making moral decisions. Getting to yes or no is, by and large, much more difficult in such cases, and may fall upon individuals who do not have those responsibilities as well, as, for example, in parenthood, in the teaching of values and how to reconcile competing interests. At onset, the dilemma may appear to be simple, and forthright to a casual observer, but may from someone else's perspective with greater knowledge and sensitivity to broader aspects of a dilemma, require different decisions to produce a desired outcome. The simplicity of historic and even current religious guidance is to quickly assume the need for conditioned responses which may not take larger consideration into account. Hence, toleration of both expression and decisionmaking in others is highly desirable, since few of us ever know exactly the circumstances and factors involved in someone's work decisions, much less their personal decisions, and especially not when they are uniquely combined in a position like President where carrying others concerns are as important as carrying one's own. It's good to see Dr. Wogaman undertake to help answer these questions to help relieve the moral burden from each of us, reminding us that morality is essentially a subjective perspective, even within Christian guidelines.

VERY INFORMATIVE
I HAVE READ THIS BOOK AND FIND IT TO BE VERY INFORMATIVE. IT TAKES COURAGE TO BELIEVE THE TRUTH AND WHILE I DON'T KNOW THAT IT IS TOTALLY ACCURATE I BELIEVE THE AUTHOR HAS HONESTLY TRIED TO WARN THE PUBLIC. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OF MARRS BOOKS AND ENJOYED EACH. TODAY'S HEADLINES CERTAINLY SUPPORT SOME THINGS IN THE BOOK. MAR.15, 1999

The truth is out there...
It is about time someone was couragous enough to write about the extreem femenism going on in our country. I believe in women's right, but not in this self-destroying, negative, extreem, politicaly correct trash Hillary and her cronies are trying to shove down the public throat. Not a reason to panic, this book should be a call to action by all true women who believe they are able to make a difference and to denounce these extremist Feminazis who are trying to impose their lifestyle and beliefe systems on the rest of the country. Great book. Wake up call to our nation.
